IQ
I’ve completed an official Mensa IQ test a few years ago. When one of the organizing guys was telling us the results, he has taken me aside, which suggested something special – I scored 144. That means that I should be able to solve IQ tests better than about 99.8% of people. I considered it a pretty good result back then. I was even proud of it.
During recent years, I talked about IQ with several people. Turns out that all of my friends that I talked to have IQ 140+ (some even 150+). It was at least ten people, from different countries, but all of them (reasonably succesful) go players.
There are three possibilities (or combination thereof):
- Coincidentally, I am a genius and my friends too (and many of them even more so than me).
- There is a very tight connection between being good at go and being good at solving IQ tests.
- The tests are simply flawed.
I’d really like to know the truth, so please share your results in the comments (you can do it anonymously if you prefer).
PS: I don’t enjoy individually asking people what their IQ is, it makes me look like a complete idiot… the problem is that I really want to know the truth about IQ…

Ja svoje IQ neznam :crying: :drool: :woot: – nikdy jsem nedelal zadnej poradnej test, ale mam ten pocit, ze vetsina testu (mam na mysli nejake rozumne testy a ne 10-ti otazkove testy na netu) nekonci konkretnim cislem, ale intervalem. Urcite me to nekdo rikal, ale nevim jak je to verohodne… :unsure:

Není IQ jako IQ. V zásadě existují dvě nejrozšířenější verze testu a ty jsou oproti sobě o cca 10 bodů posunuty. Mensa používá obě verze, v každé zemi probíhají ty jejich testy jinak. Takže nelze přímo porovnávat čísla.
Já jsem obvykle skóroval mezi 130 a 140 body, ale žádnej pořádnej test (na úrovni Mensy například) jsem nikdy neabsolvoval.
Myslím si ale, že tohle číslo obecně moc neznamená. Ten test se snaží prověřit funkci mozku a to pomocí jenom pár úkolů. Potom se z výsledků těchto testů udělá jedno číslo. To snad musí být každýmu jasný, že to velkou vypovídací hodnotu nemá.
Dobrej IQ test IMHO slouží k tomu, abys zjistil v jakých oblastech jsi silnější/slabší, co můžeš aktivně zlepšovat a v čem máš největší potenciál atd.
Vzhledem k tomu všemu osobně moc nemám Mensu a podobný společnosti rád. Přijde mi, že často jenom frajeří a to tím jedním číslem.

Já dělal nějaký asi nevěrohodný z novin, a vyšlo mi 120 :smartass: :D
Zato bratr prý dělal test který zabral celý den a normálně to dost stojí a vyšlo mu 140.

IQ tests measure the ability….. of solving IQ tests. “Integlligence” consists of much more than can be “measured” by the combinatorial problems IQ tests usually are made of…
I’m not saying its useless, there is just more to the picture than a IQ test can indicate. And I think the thesis that playing Go trains the ability of solving IQ tests is correct :]
